The video, which you can see below, was included in WarnerMedia’s 2019 upfront presentation on Tuesday afternoon and featured the titular characters. The duo, cast against as solid black background, simply came out and told the audience that they’d be back soon.

Oo-wee! It’s now official: the new season of Rick and Morty will be airing this year.

Season 4 Confirmation

Adult Swim offered fans of the show plenty of reassurance last May that it wasn’t going anywhere. Not only did they they confirm there’d be a Season 4, but also that a staggering 70 new episodes had been ordered. What they didn’t offer, however, was any sort of timeline.

When that announcement was made, co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland even cracked jokes about getting back to work.

We now know that we’ll finally be getting new episodes in November of this year.

Official Announcement

“We’ve got a big announcement to make,” says Rick in the video published today on YouTube.

After some deliberation between the characters over whether he or Morty should make the announcement, he continues. “Everybody, uh, Rick and Morty is Back – brand new Season 4 – in November 2019, this year. We’re gonna do it this year – 2019!”

While the video did not give a specific date, we now the pair is going to be back in November.

No More Huge Gaps Between Seasons

Luckily, Harmon also confirmed last year that there won’t be huge gaps between seasons anymore.

“We’re not going to do these long breaks, these chasms in between seasons anymore,” Harmon told Polygon. “We’re going to schedule vacation time and just keep the machine going. It’s going to be really cool.”

All in all, it’s good news all around for fans of the series – 70 new episodes, Season 4 coming in November, and the gap between Season 4 and Season 5 should be significantly shorter than with past seasons.
